If you have searched for a laundry folding machine, you have probably come across FoldiMate. It was one of the most talked-about folding robots of the late 2010s. Here is how it compares with FOLDORA in 2026, using public sources for FoldiMate and catalog values for FOLDORA.
1. Availability
FoldiMate was announced for a market launch by the end of 2019. In August 2021, the company informed deposit holders that it had ceased its business operations. FOLDORA is available to order today, in stock and shipped with tracking.
2. Price
FoldiMate announced a price of around $980 and collected $85 deposits. FOLDORA starts at $1,299 at launch, and FOLDORA Mini at $649. The difference: you can actually receive a FOLDORA.
3. Garments
FoldiMate was designed for shirts, blouses and pants from children's size 5 to adult XXL. It did not fold baby clothes, socks, underwear, sheets or hoodies. FOLDORA folds everyday adult clothing, and FOLDORA Mini is made for baby and children's clothes.
4. Loading and care
FoldiMate used clip-in slots and steamed garments while folding. FOLDORA uses an upper chamber, one garment at a time, with Refresh, Sanitize, Perfume and Fold controls.
5. Warranty and support
FOLDORA includes a 2-year limited warranty, product registration, 30-day returns and live order tracking. FoldiMate no longer operates.
Verdict
FoldiMate paved the way, but FOLDORA is the folding machine you can buy, use and get support for. Read the full FOLDORA vs FoldiMate comparison or shop FOLDORA.
